Be Sure To Tell Them About These Too……

in What is Failure?

doh!

Being an opportunist and risk taker I’ve learned a lot of valuable lessons in my 31 years, many of them the hard way.

Every so often, it took more than one of the same mistake before I learned the lesson.   Has this ever happened to you?

While I’ve had my share of noteworthy accomplishments I’ve found what really helps me build rapport with people I meet is sharing my setbacks, lessons and temporary failures.

Keep in mind, failure is a verb, not a noun.

We have all made mistakes.  The more mistakes we make with the right mindset the more we get to learn. Stay positive!

The greatest breakthroughs and insights have come in my darkest and most challenging hours, yet looking back on them, they are all blessings (in disguise) that helped shape and define my outlook, judgement, morals and values.   Begin to appreciate your setback and mistakes they help us grow.

When given the choice, always choose the new mistake =)

To leave out the setbacks from our story denies someone the opportunity to learn what we’ve been through and find out more about what makes us tick.

Stay tuned to my blog as I will open up and be totally transparent sharing the stories that have had the greatest impact on my life.

Within every setback or obstacle or disadvantage there is the seed of an equal or opposite or greater advantage or benefit. (Napoleon Hill)

Keep pushing play on life, keep making mistakes, stay positive and keep learning.

No man ever achieved worthwhile success who did not, at one time or other, find himself with at least one foot hanging well over the brink of failure. (Napoleon Hill)

You are on the right track – keep turning those Ns to Ps!

Great reminder! I usually learn things the hard way too. It’s so easy to want to hide your mistakes like they never happened. I’m learning to really pay attention to my mistakes and learn from them. It is a very valuable tool. I find this way I make less of the same mistakes and probably more new ones because I try more things. You always fail if you don’t try! I work to look at things that don’t go right as just a minor set back. That attempt at something may have failed but then I know what not to do the next time. If I try enough times I will have figured out all the things not to do and I will succeed. YES!

Spot on Donna!!! Thanks for commenting, I love the community that’s building here on the blog and your comments are really helping so please keep it up!

One other thing to think about, if we own our setbacks and share them openly we have nothing we worry about someone “finding out” something which absolutely increases our confidence and reduces stress. That said, this is 180 degrees different than puking our problems on everyone we meet.

Showing we are optimistic, resilient and sharing the positive lessons we learn from a “negative” situation is extremely valuable and definitely increases my respect for someone. Knowing they’ve had their share of setbacks and weren’t born with a silver spoon in their mouth yet continue to remain optimistic in the face of setbacks is what defines character. The best example I can think of is Abe Lincoln…his story of failures and setbacks followed by becoming the most influential president in history is ridiculously powerful and inspiring!

It’s all about turning those Ns to Ps! YES!
